5 Actions That Bring You Success

5-waysWho doesn’t want more success? Whatever you’ve already accomplished, there’s always another interesting mountain to climb. If you’re looking for more achievement, you can improve your life dramatically with a few simple changes.

Although these suggestions are straightforward, most of them will require constant attention for a little while until they become habitual. Once they become automatic, though, you’ll be thrilled with your progress.

Try these ideas to enjoy greater success:

  1. Hang out with successful individuals. You’ll frequently find that you achieve about as much as the people with whom you spend the most time. If you want to be successful, affiliate as often as you can with people who are more successful than you. There are a couple of reasons for this:
  • You’ll be exposed to a completely different way of thinking and interacting with the world. Very successful people look at many things differently than those who are less successful. Integrating some of these ideas into your own thinking will likely bring you more successes of your own.
  • You’ll also encounter new opportunities. High-achieving people frequently have all kinds of ventures going on; you never know when they might need a helping hand. You’ll also get to connect with their peer group, who are likely to be very successful as well.
  1. Adjust your attitude. Successful people usually have a positive attitude. That’s what allows them to move forward aggressively. This is not the same as acting foolishly, however.
  • Minor challenges don’t bog them down because they believe that things will work out in the end. They also keep the bigger picture in mind, so minor challenges are just that – minor.
  • If you want to be wealthy, do you have positive attitudes about wealth and wealthy people? If you want to be healthy, do you have a positive outlook about that? Your attitudes must be congruent with your objectives.
  • Everything starts internally; seeing outside changes in your life takes time.
  1. Be organized and focused. Before you go to bed each night, make a list with all the things you want to accomplish the next day. Doing this at night gives your brain a chance to work on things in your sleep. Also, you’ll feel much better when you can start the day with a clear objective instead of spending time trying to figure out what to do.
  2. Have goals. Your brain is tremendously good at finding solutions. You can help it out by doing a good job of outlining and prioritizing your objectives. The simplest way to do this is to write down your goal and include a deadline. Now your brain knows what to work on and when to have it accomplished.
  3. Read over your goals at least twice a day to provide mental emphasis that they’re important. We all know how easy it is to get sidetracked by 50 other things and forget all about our goals and plans.

These 5 simple ideas can bring you great power, if you’ll use them to your advantage.

Being successful is really no more challenging than being unsuccessful. Both require specific actions and attitudes applied consistently over a period of time. Make some changes today and give yourself the gift of success.

Monday Motivator – Don’t Cry to give up…cry to keep Going!

Monday MotivatorHow much pain have you suffered? How much pain have we all suffered! Eric Thomas says it so well in this quote. Our pain brings us to tears but we are so used to giving up when there and tears as opposed to trying to break through. How true it is that when we are just so close to success, just 10 more yards, just one more step, we can almost taste the success. But at the same time We can also almost taste the failure as well. And yet all we have to do is break through that one more wall. And yes there may be more walls along the way, but as we break through them we become closer and closer to success.

If we would just take that one more step, release an extra tear, suffer just a bit more pain, success is our’s. Mr. Thomas continues and says “you have already sacrificed, you’ve already suffered. Why not get a reward for it!” You’ve already invested the years, the years, and the tears, where’s your ROI? Where’s your return on investment? Take your reward because it is yours. You deserve it!

Don’t Cry to give up…cry to keep Going. Think about it, you are already feeling the pain, you’ve already sacrificed why not see it through and get a reward for it? [Eric Thomas, Minute 5:00 in the video]:

Why Diets Really Don’t Work and a Simple Plan that Does

healthy-habitsMillions of people around the world struggle with dieting. In fact, it’s estimated that more than a third of the population is on a diet at any given time. Unfortunately, the majority of diets fail. Dieters either never reach their goals or they gain the weight back once they’re off the diet. The truth is, most diets just don’t really work, on their own that is.

Why Diet’s Don’t Work
Diets don’t generally work because they focus on restriction and elimination. Instead of helping a person develop healthy eating habits, diets require people to virtually eliminate many foods. That’s not natural and once a person is off the diet, they go right back to their old eating habits.

Imagine being on a diet that eliminated starchy carbohydrates. Many diets do. That means no bread, potatoes or corn. Most people, once they’re off the diet, go right back to eating those starchy carbs. The result is that they regain the weight they lost.

So What Does Work to Lose Weight?
You might be surprised to find out that to lose weight you simply have to change your habits. You replace each bad habit with a good habit. The result, over time, is lasting weight loss. Here are some examples of bad eating habits and their potential replacements:

* Bad habit – drinking soda during the day
* Good replacement habit – drinking water

* Bad habit – snacking on sugary foods
* Good replacement habit – snacking on healthy foods like fruit, vegetables, nuts and whole grains

* Bad habit – eating fast food for lunch
* Good habit – packing a healthy lunch

Change your habits, change your weight!

Believe It’s Possible

It's Possible!
It’s Possible!

No one, and I mean no one is so much smarter than you that you cannot achieve the same of levels of success in any area(s) of life that you choose, if not more. Yes, there is a full spectrum of people with vast amounts of knowledge. And perhaps there is some “genetics” to being smart, or skilled in certain areas, but all human beings are capable of achieving pretty much the same levels of knowledge, intelligence, and skills.

Certainly we are all born into circumstances that are more conducive or less conducive to acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to achieve the success we envision. BUT, and that is a BIG BUT, everyone can, should they choose to, be successful.

And so, the first thing you must do is believe. Believe that your dreams can be achieved. Believe its possible, even if its never been done before, not only by you but by anyone else on the planet either. Once you believe that your dreams, your visions, your “success” can become reality in this world then it surely can happen.

We have been blessed with the gift of imagination. And if the imagination can piece it together, so too can reality. So too can your own reality.

After your dream becomes “real” within the realm of the imagination, the next stage is to develop, to “evolve” those images to include the real world. Take it step-by-step. Look at final picture, imagine yourself giving a speech building that home, living in the home, having a wonderful relationship, and then take several steps back within your imagination and simply put together the very achievable, but very reachable and tangible steps you “actually” go through in order to reach your destination. Your dream!

Steps in the belief process:

Believe in the imagination – trust that we as human beings have been given the gift of being able to paint our own picture.

Believe in your capability – along with the gift of imagination comes the gift of our ability to bring about in the real world, all that we can imagine.

Believe in your ability to take the next step towards the dream – in order to solidify your belief in being able to reach any goal you set for yourself, very simply look at the next step needed to move in the direction of attaining that dream. Simply believe, without even taking any step at all, that you were able to take the next step.

Believe in your ability to reach completion of each small step – then, in order to perhaps overcome any fears that he might have, to complete that next step.

Since this section is about belief, about feeling, I will not mention the next obvious step which is to take action.

As each step/stage is successfully completed, not only will your self confidence begin to skyrocket, but your vision will become more and more believable. You will also find that it becomes easier and easier to believe in yourself, the most important person you may want or need to prove anything to.

100% Responsibility

Who's Responsible?
Who’s Responsible?

Among the many “single most important factors” on the road to success is the one of taking 100% responsibility for all that not only has occurred in our lives but more importantly, what will occur in our lives.

It is quite easy to find all the reasons in the world why we either have not progressed, cannot progress, or will not progress towards a better life. Whether that better life be in the area of relationships, health, finance, what have you, we always find an excuse, some way of pardoning ourselves from a more satisfying, rewarding, or even acceptable life.

Yes, as any successful person will tell us, the only way to achieve what we want in life is by taking 100% responsibility. When we look at the word “responsibility” we see a clue that can guide us on our quest. It is the “ability” to “respond”. In every situation that life presents us we have the free choice to respond how we wish. That response is what will shape our future in the short and long term.

Should we “choose” to blame the economy, our spouse, children, boss, weight, bank manager, parents, what and who ever, we in essence choose to allow others to design our lives for us. In the words of Jim Rohn “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”

When we choose however to design and create our own outcomes then we choose the path of success, in all areas of life. Of course, all the external factors play a roll in what we can do to a certain extent but they can never determine the final outcome. No, we cannot change others. If we have truly done our best and are still “stuck” in that bad relationship, that depressing job, that toxic neighborhood, that not-so-great financial situation, then we very well may not be able to even set the positive example needed in the hope that others will change. We may need to make some very hard decisions and change the environment we are in by leaving it.

There’s a story about school boy who would open his lunchbox every day and complain, “Here we go again, I always have tuna sandwiches for lunch!” One day, his friend asked, “Why don’t you ask your mom to prepare a different lunch for you tomorrow?” The boy replied, “My mother doesn’t make my lunch, I do.”

Do you have a “tuna sandwich” in your life? A situation you complain about every day but don’t do anything about? Don’t do anything to change your outcomes?

  • Do you hate your job so much that you get chest pains every morning before work?
  • Are you in a relationship that makes you cry more than it makes you laugh?
  • Are you aware that you’re carrying some extra weight, but planning to start exercising tomorrow? Next week? Next month?
  • Do you know that incorporating fruits and vegetables to your diet is beneficial, but you never buy fruits and vegetables?

The reason people are living “tuna sandwich” situations is because they are not taking full ownership of their lives. 100% responsibility, 100% of the time! In my own personal experience I’ve learned that the most important step a person must take in order to create the lives of their dreams is taking 100% responsibility of their lives. Not 99%, 100%!

The word “rationalize” come to mind. When we stop “rationalizing”, making “rations” of the amount of personal responsibility we have for our own outcomes, and start understanding and “knowing”, that the only person who can truly bring a better life to ourselves is ourselves, we start moving towards that better life.

Be a Creator!

This is a movie (The Kumbaya Movie, 3:15 min) that has inspired me for years. When we realize that we are in essence the creators of our own destiny, we are then empowered to create our lives the way we wish. Along the lines of James Allen’s “As a man thinketh”, our outer life (character and circumstances) is a result, an outcome, of our inner thoughts. This short clip from Mary Robinson Reynolds is right on:
