Abdelkader Jeriou, the festival’s president, explained in a speech at the beginning of the screening that these films provide an exceptional example of confronting and challenging Palestinian directors who carried the camera to convey the conditions of the residents of the Gaza Strip from zero distance, with visions, experiences, creative ideas and artistic styles that differ from one director to another.
The first part of this cinematic project includes 11 films out of 22 signed by 22 directors from Palestine that were filmed in the Gaza Strip during the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip and with limited capabilities.
Announcing that these films will be screened in 80 countries. On the other hand, four works by directors from Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Syria were also presented this evening within the festival’s short narrative films competition.
