The Healthy Futures Initiative (HFI) is a novel project addressing the critical health needs of students directly at schools through School-Based Health Centers (SBHC). Led by Dr. Linda Evans and her team, this initiative aims at breaking down barriers of access to quality health care by bringing healthcare services to where students spend most of their time – at school. The SBHC model focuses on preventative care, mental health services, primary care, and more; ensuring students are at their optimum health to facilitate better learning environments.
The second phase of the HFI includes workshops and training programs for school staff, ensuring better understanding of student health needs and fostering a holistic learning environment. The centers also cater to parents, educating them on the importance of regular check-ups, hygiene, nutrition, and overall health education. The result is a comprehensive, caring network of health service providers, educators, and families united for the betterment of students
